Rights, safety & complaints

Protect your money, and know how to escalate if your bank lets you down.

๐Ÿ“ถ Complaint escalation: the usual path

1

Complain to your bank

Raise it in writing at the branch or on the bank's grievance channel, and keep the complaint number.

2

Give the bank 30 days

The bank has 30 days to reply. If it hasn't, or you're not satisfied, you can escalate. Writing to the bank's Nodal / Principal Nodal Officer first is a good extra step.

3

Go to the RBI Ombudsman

File free on the RBI Complaint Management System โ†—, within 90 days of the bank's final reply (or of the 30-day deadline passing). Check rbi.org.in for the current process.
